From the zoo to a film festival

Classes for Winter 2009 have come to an end. I have exams on the 17th, 18th and 25th; I am going to see Travis and opening act The Republic Tigers on the 21st and Patrick Watson on the 2nd next month; and I have an interview with the Toronto Zoo on the 21st!

Speaking of the Zoo, I was there recently as part of a behind-the-scenes visit for my "Roles of Zoos in Conservation" course. I learnt so much from that 2-hour tour - from the keeper's job and the zoo's operations to anecdotes of animal care and conservation efforts.

The Toronto Singapore Film Festival had its fourth run this recent weekend. A smaller event than last year, it ran quite well besides some snafus. With, erm, added responsibility this year, I only managed to catch the opening film, Rice Rhapsody, and another feature, Invisible Children, with the latter surprisingly being more impressive with its subtlety. The people from E-Snacks were there and they remember us from last year, thinking back of the amount of food we bought from them then and this year too (my sister didn't have time to volunteer or catch a screening but somehow found time to get some food). Ryan was in town visiting for a couple of days as well, so he ended up acting as a tourist/volunteer while hanging out with Yiwen and I.
