Energy-zapped in Montréal
The family is in Montréal at this moment. We found a little suite with two bedrooms at the UQAM West Residence that operates as an auberge in the summer. I like it, but the absence of a much-needed air-conditioner or a telly proves to be quite a disappointment to these temporary residents. The heat and humidity has zapped the energy out of us, especially after being on the bus for the ride from Toronto. There is the ceiling fan which will get us through the night but there is no immediate gratification from an air-conditioner's coolness upon our return from a hot day's outing. As for the TV, we are on a trip to explore the city not be a couch potato, yet the lack of background audio is odd to us.
We walked a bit of the city. My dad does not see what the big deal with Montréal is since we spent most of the time today in the newer core along rue Sherbrooke and rue Saint-Catherine. I shared the same sentiments on our first day here last October. Wait till he sees Vieux-Montréal tomorrow!
