Wedding

The gorgeous fall day of October 8, 2011, saw the wedding of Nora and Mark. The bride was radiant, the groom could not stop grinning, and the ceremony was so elegant. It has been years knowing Nora - first time meeting her was as my brother's high school friend and housemate, and upon settling in, becoming part of the clique. Then, through Nora, we met Mark. From the time when we once shared a place till now, years after moving away from each other, we have still maintained a close friendship. Needless to say, seeing both of them up at the gazebo reciting their vows moved me and many others to tears.

To witness the union of a two people in love led me thinking of myself, what it would mean to be able to walk down the aisle as a gay man with the person I want to spend my life with. It suddenly became apparent that my relationship with C was not what I had hoped for it to be, especially since it had no doubt been changed from the breakup a month ago. So on Sunday when the issue came up, it felt like a decision had to be made and it was. Single once more, and I must say, it is not as hard as the first time round.

Not that I do not trust I would never find comfort being single on my own, but would I find happiness with someone and in marriage? Nora and Mark's union leave me believing so.
