Career
I'm not sure if much has changed since my last post, especially with matters of the heart, but an exciting prospect in my work life has come to fruition. I have moved up the corporate ladder at Indigo Books!
I applied for a job at Home Office, went through 2 rounds of interviews, was pretty sure I flunked out of the running after my disastrous second round and was given a huge surprise when I was offered the job. Things moved slowly after, but it finally happened. I left the store on Friday the 13th of July, sadly, and started my new position as the Allocations Analyst the week after. It has almost been a month since I started it and I am happy to report that I am fully enjoying every aspect of it.
There have been numerous long days, today being a 12-hour work day lasting from 7.30am to 7.30pm. But I ain't complaining. Many meetings, events, and tasks break my day up, making it go by quickly. The experience is definitely very different from being in the store, and while I do miss my time there and the people I have worked with, I can't say I want badly to go back to working at the store. Even though my current position is a year's contract, I'm hoping to turn it into something more - a lasting career?!
Diving straight into Home Office has been a challenge, which I think I have juggled pretty well with, so it is a welcome that I'm going away for the coming week... COTTAGEFEST 2012!!! The last one was in 2009 so I'm extremely excited for this time away.
